Piaget Rediscovers Turquoise in Its Iconic 60s Watches

At Watches & Wonders 2025, Piaget turned back the clock to its most glamorous decade: the 1960s. Few brands embody an era as strongly as Piaget, and this year the maison revisited its archives to highlight its historic love affair with turquoise.

The spotlight fell on three new models; the New Sixties, the Essentia, and the Swinging Sautoir – each celebrating Piaget’s hedonistic spirit and its ability to merge watchmaking with high jewelry design.

Piaget’s journey with turquoise began in 1963, when the maison paired vibrant stone dials with ultra-thin movements, challenging the notion that a timepiece should be defined strictly as a “watch” or “jewelry.”

The new Sixtie stays true to that disruptive DNA. Featuring a geometric dial that gently tapers into the maison’s iconic TV-shaped case – also known as the Andy Warhol watch – it is paired with a five-row gold bracelet that enhances its high-jewelry character.

Equally bold is the revival of the Swinging Sautoir watches. Originally sketched directly onto the pages of fashion magazines, these pendant-style watches combine turquoise dials with hand-twisted gold, diamond accents, and flowing tassels – a true nod to Piaget’s playful, free-spirited past.

Finally, the Essentia watch brings a poetic touch of Riviera blue. With a flowing gold case and handcrafted chain bracelet adorned with diamond halos, it embodies Yves Piaget’s passion for vibrant color and unconventional shapes. As the Ancient Egyptians once called turquoise the “stone of the gods,” it feels like they might have approved of this creation too.

With these new creations, Piaget once again proves that time is at its most captivating when infused with artistry, color, and imagination. Bold yet elegant, timeless yet contemporary, these turquoise jewels echo the maison’s past while dazzling a new generation of connoisseurs.
